Health education in schools is essential for the physical and mental development of children. However, appropriate methodologies for health education are not yet implemented in many Asian countries. Our task is to promote inter-disciplinary research on health education in Asia and provide useful information to each country. School Health education covers various issues including physical growth of children, hygienic condition of schools, proper nutrition for children, safety to avoid accidents at school, improvement of class-rooms for effective learning, drug prevention and so on.

Ongoing Project

The Japan Society for Promotion of the Science (JSPS) is sponsoring an enablement project called "Build a School Health, Safety, and Environmental Education Research Network in Asia and Create a Long-term Researcher Training Program". This project emphasises the creation of a new approach to connect health education and environment education as children`s environment is closely related to their health conditions. Research seminars on this theme were held in Thailand, Myanmar and Nepal.
